About the distillery
Founded in 1932 in Carbet, on the Caribbean coast of Martinique, the Neisson distillery is one of the last family distilleries on the island. Inherited from the Neisson brothers, then passed on to Claudine Neisson and now run by her son Grégory Vernant, this artisanal house has preserved an independent and innovative spirit. It embodies both the tradition of AOC agricultural rum and a constant desire for technical improvement. Neisson cultivates its own 40 hectares of sugarcane, spread across the volcanic hillsides and sunny plains of the north of the island. These terroirs, combined with non-hybrid varieties such as Rubanée, Cristalline, and Malavoi, give the rums a unique aromatic signature. A pioneer in organic farming, Neisson was the first Martinique distillery to produce a certified organic rum, which has now become a benchmark. Distillation is carried out on a historic Savalle column, optimized by Jean Neisson, which allows for the extraction of precise and elegant aromas at a high degree (73%). The house also uses its own strains of natural yeasts, rigorously selected from its environment. This meticulous work in fermentation, distillation, and aging gives rise to some of the finest rums on the market. With a production voluntarily limited to approximately 400,000 liters per year, the distillery makes it a point of honor to offer unique vintages, whether white, aged in wood, or vintage. The famous “Zépol Karé” bottle has become a symbol of authenticity and recognition in the world of rum. In short, Neisson represents a quest for excellence and sincerity, combining respect for the terroir, discreet innovation, and family passion.
