The Admiral Rodney range is a creation of Saint Lucia Distillers , the only distillery on the island of Saint Lucia, renowned for its expertise and the richness of its aged rums. It pays homage to British Admiral George B. Rodney and the naval Battle of Les Saintes (1782), where the English fleet inflicted a decisive defeat on the French, marking British hegemony in the Caribbean. Each cuvée in the series (Princessa, Royal Oak, Formidable, etc.) is named after a ship of the Royal Navy. The rums are distilled in pot stills and column stills, then aged for many years in bourbon barrels. HMS Formidable is the most prestigious cuvée, made from the oldest barrels in the distillery.
