The Rum Nation range is the result of years of research and tasting by Fabio Rossi, who wanted to introduce new terroirs of the Caribbean and Latin America to lovers of great spirits. This Jamaican rum is robust, very aromatic and spicy while retaining its sweetness and roundness thanks to the notes of raisins given to it by the sherry casks in which it was matured.
TASTING NOTE
Nose: Deep, balsamic, with notes of camphor, sugar cane and ripe fruit that highlight the typical "funk" taste of Jamaica.
Palate: Notes of dark chocolate and raisins.
Finish: Lively, warm.
THE BRAND
Rum Nation is an independent bottling brand, headquartered in Italy. It was founded by Fabio Rossi in 1999. F. Rossi practically fell into it when he was little, since five years before his birth, his father Mario had already started his business as an importer and distributor of wines and spirits. For example, he was the first to import Laphroaig whisky into Italy, Barbancourt rum, Bordeaux and Champagne. When he was barely thirty years old, he went to Scotland to visit a number of distilleries, establish the foundations of lasting relationships and, quite logically, select whisky casks. His first experience was in Scotch, so it was in 1992 that he developed the Wilson & Morgan range. When he decided to bottle rum, he first sought valuable advice from the renowned bottler Silvano Samaroli. The product difference and the direction he wanted to give to this new segment led Fabio Rossi to clearly separate his whisky brand from his rum brand; in 1999, he created Rum Nation. The guiding principle was not to bottle rums according to their different names, but rather according to their origins. Hence the very particular labeling, which is also for him a return to his childhood memories, when he collected stamps. He also bottles special bottlings called Rossi & Rossi. For his rums, Fabio Rossi applies a selection and aging method replicated by Wilson & Morgan. The distillates are purchased young, or even produced for him, according to specifications. Maturation will first take place on site for an average period of 6 to 8 years, before continuing on the continent, which, thanks to a different climate, will modify the interaction with the cask and give it more smoothness. Finally, just as with whisky, Rum Nation also carries out finishing operations, such as these Pedro Ximenez casks made available thanks to F. Rossi's good relationships with a number of Spanish Bodegas.
