PUNI Vina is an Italian whisky made in the Italian Alps and aged in hand-selected Sicilian casks that previously held Marsala wine. The distillery takes its name from the Puni River, which flows nearby in the valley. Like Scottish distilleries, which very often have Gaelic names, PUNI is an ancient Retic name, deeply rooting the distillery in local history. Grain cultivation has a long tradition in the Vinschgau Valley, primarily rye, and PUNI uses only locally grown rye in its recipe. PUNI uses three types of malted grain; barley forms the malty, spicy base, wheat adds a mellow sweetness, and rye provides body and depth. The distillery is based in the middle of the Alps, in a beautiful 13-meter-high red brick cube (see photo below). A whisky marked by notes of dried fruit cake, creamy nuts and sweet raisins envelop the palate and aromas of plums, orange peel and cinnamon cherries complete the complex character of this Italian whisky.

THE BRAND
PUNI was founded by Albrecht Ebensperger in the Vinschgau Valley, the "highlands of Italy," in 2010. The distillery takes its name from the Puni River, which flows nearby. Much like Scottish distilleries, which very often have Gaelic names, PUNI is an ancient Retic name, deeply rooting the distillery in local history. The distillery is based in the middle of the Alps, in a beautiful 13-meter-high red brick cube. It is inspired by the traditional style, with walls colored with soft earth tones, combining tradition and modernity. Inside, handmade copper stills are housed. In the spring of 2012, production finally began after more than two years of construction. A little over three years later, in October 2015, the first Italian malt whisky was born! PUNI doesn't like to overcomplicate things, as evidenced by its elegant bottles and packaging.
