About the House
Founded in 1743 by Claude Moët in Épernay, the house of Moët & Chandon has embodied excellence and innovation in the world of champagne for over two centuries. From its beginnings, the house captivated the great European courts, and it was his grandson, Jean-Rémy Moët, who propelled the brand internationally at the end of the 18th century. Visionary and daring, he established close ties with the great figures of the time, notably Napoleon Bonaparte, helping to establish Moët's worldwide reputation. In 1833, the alliance with the Chandon family marked a strategic turning point. The house then became Moët & Chandon, and began a new era of expansion and perfection of its cuvées. Throughout the decades, the house continued to innovate, while respecting traditional Champagne expertise. It perfectly masters the blend of its three grape varieties – Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay – from the best Champagne vintages. The successive acquisitions of Ruinart and Mercier, then the creation of the LVMH group (merger with Hennessy, Dior and Louis Vuitton), have allowed Moët & Chandon to shine on all continents. Today, the house produces prestigious champagnes such as the Grand Vintage, but remains faithful to its emblem: the Brut Impérial. This cuvée embodies the house style: lively, fruity, seductive .
