The 2015 Cristal from Maison Louis Roederer is distinguished by its chalky temperament and great aging potential. The year 2015 fits perfectly with the continental trend of the decade, marked by a mild and wet winter followed by a hot and dry summer. Thanks to the coolness of late summer, ripening produced juicy, ripe, and concentrated grapes, making the 2015 vintage exceptional. The 2015 Cristal cuvée is composed of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, 25% of which was vinified in oak barrels. Malolactic fermentation was blocked to preserve beautiful freshness, tension, and great aging potential. With a dosage of 7 g/L, the 2015 Cristal offers a touch of indulgence. This vintage champagne displays a deep yellow color with brilliant flashes, with an ultra-fine and dynamic effervescence. On the nose, the bouquet is intense and concentrated, revealing aromas of white peach and mirabelle plum, accompanied by toasted notes of reduction evoking hazelnuts and roasted almonds. On the palate, the 2015 Cristal is concentrated, energetic, and vibrant. Its silky, almost oily texture presents sweet flavors of candied citrus and iodized spices, followed by a pure, precise, and chiseled freshness. The mouth-watering finish is marked by slightly woody, sappy, and saline notes, offering a simultaneous sensation of delicacy and concentration. Served at 10°C, it is perfect as an aperitif. However, it can also be served as an accompaniment to an entire meal.
“A wine of pure pleasure, a wine for great gastronomy, Cristal is both delicate and powerful, with subtlety and precision.”— Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon, Cellar Master

THE BRAND
Established in 1776 by Mr. Dubois and his son, the house flourished under the leadership of Louis Roederer, who ran the business from 1832 to 1870, propelling it to the ranks of the greatest Champagne houses. This prestigious reputation as supplier to the Tsar was maintained with remarkable consistency. Rather than purchasing grapes, Louis Roederer preferred to invest in acquiring vineyards, meticulously selecting the best plots. In 1876, his son created the first "prestigious cuvée" of Champagne for Tsar Alexander II, which he named Cristal. This tradition continued with Léon Olry Roederer, then with his wife Camille from 1933, and finally with his grandson Jean-Claude Rouzaud, who undertook an overhaul of the vineyard. Since 2006, the Rouzaud family, represented by Frédéric, the seventh generation of the lineage, has been at the helm of Roederer champagnes. Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon, who has held the positions of deputy general manager and cellar master since 1999, contributes to maintaining the house's excellence. The vineyard has been cultivated according to biodynamic principles for over twenty years, with half already certified organic and biodynamic, while the rest benefits from the HVE-3 label.
