THE BRAND
Located in the heart of Alsace, the Miclo Distillery was founded by Gilbert Miclo in 1962. Gilbert Miclo originally worked as a beverage wholesaler, a trade he inherited from his father. At the time, he was a renowned brandy merchant but dissatisfied with the quality offered by his fruit producers, who distilled their own spirits. Thus, he decided to do his own distillation and founded the distillery in 1962. Michel Miclo, his son, took over the family business in 1995. In 2011, the first malt distillations began, and the Alsatian single malt whiskies were launched at the end of 2016. Miclo whiskies benefit from the Alsace Geographical Indication "Alsatian Whisky": the barley is of Alsatian origin and it is forbidden to flavor, sweeten, or color the whiskies. The Pays Welche is the geographical area in which the village of Lapoutroie is located, in the mid-mountains on the foothills of the Vosges ridges.
