Located in the heart of the Domaine du Marquisat de Sainte-Marie , the KARUKERA® rum distillery is one of the oldest distilleries still operating in Guadeloupe . The name Karukera, which means "the island of beautiful waters" in the Caribbean language, recalls the historical roots of the island, discovered in 1493 by Christopher Columbus.
