Waterford Cuvée Argot is an Irish single malt whisky made from a blend of 4 high-quality casks (ex-bourbon casks, new American oak casks, French oak casks, and vin doux naturel). It is a more accessible whisky at 47%, but it remains complex with a hint of peat. Argot is a single malt whisky created as a vibrant, enthusiastic, and carefree bottling. It combines multiple farms for seductive depth and ultimate complexity with just a hint of real Irish peat. Argot is fully matured in a blend of 37% first-fill American oak, 19% virgin American oak, 19% premium French oak, and 23% vin doux naturel. This whisky offers aromas of orange peel, baked apple with almonds, green foliage, berries, fennel, and white chocolate, with flavors of bell peppers, granola, grapefruit, smoky barbecue, banana milkshake, and green apple. The finish is long, warm, peppery, and dry.
THE BRAND
The Waterford Distillery is a major new project in the world of whisky, initiated by the man behind the revival of Bruichladdich "Mark Reynier" single malt whisky. A journey as ambitious as it is pioneering. The goal is to create not only the most compelling Irish whiskey, but also the world's most profound single malt. WATERFORD is located on the banks of the River Suir on Ireland's sunny southeast coast. Waterford boasts an exceptional state-of-the-art facility originally built by Diageo in 2004 and converted for distillation in 2015. It boasts raw materials of the highest quality: the purest spring water from ancient wells, a team of passionate distillers, and the finest barley in the world. The provenance of the barley—where and how it is grown—is therefore paramount. Taking Islay's proven principles, the distillery found an unprecedented 72 Irish farms, including organic and biodynamic, growing barley on 19 distinct soil types. Using an innovative digital logistics tracking system, each farmer's harvest is stored, malted, and distilled separately. This allows them to capture the terroir of each farm in the whisky, the subtle character shaped by the microclimate and soil.
