Waterford: the renaissance of Irish whiskey driven by the terroir

The Waterford Distillery is a revolutionary project in the world of Irish whiskey , initiated by Mark Reynier, the man behind the renaissance of the Bruichladdich single malt. Located on the banks of the River Suir, in the sunny southeast of Ireland, Waterford combines technological innovation and respect for the terroir to create an exceptional whiskey. The distillery benefits from state-of-the-art facilities, inherited from Diageo, converted for distillation in 2015. The emphasis is on the quality of the raw materials, with pure spring water from ancient wells and, above all, a rigorous selection of barley grown on 72 different Irish farms , including organic and biodynamic farms. Each harvest is tracked by an innovative digital logistics system, allowing barley from 19 different soil types to be malted and distilled separately. This unique method captures the soul of the terroir in each bottle, reflecting the subtle nuances of the microclimate and the nature of Irish soils.
