Golden in color, this Single Pot Ptill possesses more than just Irish aromas. Yellow Spot was aged in three types of casks: bourbon, sherry, and Malaga, which gave it an extraordinary richness and smoothness. On the nose, it offers a veritable basket of fruit: peach, apricot. A few notes of sherry perfume your nose. On the palate, the fruit develops generously. On the palate, the texture is decidedly velvety, drying out with spices. The finish is long and smooth. Yellow Spot is an Irish whiskey with character to discover.

BRAND
The single pot still range is made from a mixture of equal proportions of malted and unmalted barley, then distilled three times in traditional copper stills. Coming from the Midelton Distillery, these spirits are very creamy and smooth. The creations in the range will delight Irish whiskey enthusiasts. Yellow Spot is a 12-year-old Irish single pot still, matured in bourbon, sherry and Malaga casks. Its name comes from a practice that its creators once maintained, namely the application of paint on the casks, in order to recognize them. This brand was abandoned during the 1960s, but the Irish Distillers Limited group (Pernod Ricard), revived it in its modern history. Yellow Spot therefore comes from the Midleton distillery, which uses a production method identical to the original.
DISTILLERY
It was in 1825 in Cork that the Murphy brothers founded what became the most renowned distillery in the country. The distillery produced a range of the "Midleton" brand and in 1966, the company joined forces with John Powers and John Jameson to form the Irish Distillers group. A new distillery was built in Midleton to produce all of their brands. This new distillery now has a capacity of 60m liters, following a major expansion project in 2013. It is the largest distillery in Ireland producing Irish whiskey. The old site now houses a museum dedicated to whiskey, the Jameson Experience. Midleton produces the Jameson, Powers and Midleton brands of course, but also Redbreast, Green Spot and Yellow Spot, Paddy and until 2010, Tullamore Dew. More recently, major financial efforts have been made to further increase the number of fermentation tanks and stills in particular. Today, the total production is around 65,000,000 liters of pure alcohol per year. This is thanks to 48 fermentation tanks, 7 pot stills, and 11 columns. In 1988, the Pernod-Ricard group acquired it.
