Distilled in pot stills and columns , it has aged for at least 5 years in charred American oak barrels in a tropical climate. The nose opens with aromas of molasses, vanilla, ripe fruit and caramel, all subtly woody. On the palate, we find a soft and silky texture, carried by notes of oak, orange zest and an elegant bouquet of Caribbean spices . The finish is perfectly balanced . About the distillery
Founded in 1780 , the Clarendon Distillery is one of the pillars of Jamaican rum production. It operates under the name Monymusk for its official bottlings. Owned by the National Rums of Jamaica , Clarendon produces a wide range of flavor profiles, from highly esterified rums to light rums, thanks to its double retort pot stills and modern triple column . The distillery combines long fermentations in wooden vats for heavy rums, and rapid fermentations in stainless steel vats for milder rums. It continues to sell most of its production in bulk, but since 2012 has established itself with its own vintages under the Monymusk brand, which have become benchmarks among connoisseurs. Houses like Velier also select its batches for exceptional bottlings. Clarendon embodies an authentic and innovative Jamaica, capable of seducing demanding connoisseurs while remaining faithful to the heritage of characterful rum.
