About the distillery

The story of Nikka begins with Masataka Taketsuru , a visionary and pioneer of Japanese whisky. After studying in Scotland and interning at several iconic distilleries, he founded the Yoichi distillery in 1934. In 1969, he opened Miyagikyo , in a verdant setting on the island of Honshu. Nikka draws inspiration from Scottish style while asserting a Japanese identity based on harmony and elegance. The house offers a wide range: single malts , pure malts , blended and grain whiskies . Nikka Days embodies modernity and conviviality, while remaining faithful to the spirit of refinement that has made the brand famous throughout the world.
