About Angostura House
Founded in 1824 by Dr. Johann Siegert in Venezuela, Angostura was first famous for its aromatic bitters . Transferred to Trinidad in 1875 , it became a major player in rum production in the 1940s, with modern distillation in column stills. Under the direction of master distiller John Georges , Angostura produces nearly 20 million liters per year , from local molasses, with aging in bourbon barrels. Awarded numerous international gold medals, the brand is today synonymous with quality, tradition and Caribbean know-how . Angostura 1787 rum is a perfect expression of this: rich, round, fruity and woody , while remaining accessible to a wide audience of amateurs.
