Takamaka Zepis Kreol is an aged rum from the Seychelles, macerated with spices. Zepis Kreol draws its character from both the oak and local Seychelles spices. A blend of pot-still and column-still molasses rum, macerated with locally grown natural spices. The distillery adds 8-year-old Foursquare rum before finally resting it for 60 days in very old ex-bourbon casks before bottling. Takamaka is the name of one of the districts on this paradise island. This rum offers true depth of flavor with a rich oak character complemented by local cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and four spices, with just a hint of island sweetness. With no artificial colors or flavors, it is bottled at 43% and non-chill filtered. A truly Seychelles-origin spiced rum that can be served long or short, but always poured over ice.
THE BRAND
Founded by Richard and Bernard d'Offay in 2002, the Trois Frères distillery is located on the island of Mahé in the Seychelles, in the Indian Ocean. Made from sugarcane grown in the Seychelles on granite, not volcanic, soil, Takamaka's rums are marked by the imprint of a terroir very different from other producing regions. Takamaka produces two types of rum: a "heavy rum" of the agricultural type distilled in traditional pot stills with a particularly aromatic aroma, and a "light rum" distilled in a column still. The d'Offay brothers use these two varieties to create their entire range.
