THE BRAND
Scapa is located on the island of Orkney on the north coast of Scotland near the town of Kirkwall. The Scapa distillery produces a single malt marked by honey aromas and fruity hints, a unique profile for a malt from the island. Scapa has been owned by the Pernod Ricard group since 2005, but the distillery has retained its traditional methods and only five people operate within Scapa. Scapa is the second-most northerly distillery in Scotland, very close to Highland Park, which holds this title. It was founded in 1885 in the Orkney Islands. The region is marked by Scandinavian domination by the Norwegian Vikings, who have been settled there since the 9th century. Orkney became Scottish again in 1472 under the reign of James III, when he married the daughter of the King of Denmark.
