Scapa: the unique single malt from Orkney, in the north of Scotland
Located on the island of Orkney , near the town of Kirkwall , the Scapa distillery produces a Scottish single malt with a unique profile, marked by sweet aromas of honey and delicate hints of fruit . This particularity sets Scapa apart from other island whiskies. Founded in 1885 , Scapa is the second most northerly distillery in Scotland, very close to the famous Highland Park . It has been owned by the Pernod Ricard group since 2005, while maintaining its traditional production methods, operated by a small team of just five people. The Orkney Islands, rich in a history marked by Scandinavian domination and Viking influence since the 9th century, were reintegrated into Scotland in 1472 under the reign of James III, thus strengthening the cultural and historical identity of this unique region.
