RHUM DAMOISEAU: THE EXCELLENCE OF A FAMILY TRADITION

Founded in 1942 by Roger Damoiseau Sr., the Damoiseau distillery is a family business that has become a major player in agricultural rum production in Guadeloupe. The Bellevue estate, located on Grande-Terre, was purchased from a derelict location with the mission of reviving the sugar industry. Rum production quickly became the priority, and Damoiseau rum stood out for its quality and unique character. In 1968, Roger Damoiseau Jr. took over and successfully repaid the company's debts by marketing bulk rum, allowing the company to prosper. In 1995, Hervé Damoiseau, the eldest son, became president of the distillery, while his brother Jean-Luc, master distiller since 1978, continued to manage production. Located in a sunny microclimate on limestone soil, the distillery benefits from ideal land for growing sugar cane, allowing for fully ripe harvests. Damoiseau rum is available in a wide range, from white rum to aged rum, which is distinguished by aromas of tropical fruits, spices, and vanilla, with a slightly woody finish. Damoiseau rum is highly regarded by connoisseurs and regularly wins awards at international spirits competitions. Thanks to its expertise, the distillery continues to produce exceptional rums, which are used both for cocktails and enjoyed neat to appreciate their richness and complexity.
