Rhum La Mauny: Martinique's agricultural heritage and exceptional vintages

La Mauny is a historic distillery in Martinique, now part of the Campari group, which has successfully developed a production of distinctive agricultural rums. Founded on a former sugar mill and planted on nearly 300 hectares of sugar cane, it combines its own crops with those of small planters to master the quality of the vesou. Fermentation lasts approximately 24 hours in 36 massive vats, then distillation is carried out on a variety of equipment, including two Maresté stills and a state-of-the-art Interunion. La Mauny rums are distinguished by their aging in oak barrels, mainly French, which gives the amber versions a balanced aromatic depth. The house profile ranges from powerful 62° whites to long-lasting blends, to complex XOs, including finished cuvées such as Héritage 1749 with its passage in Port casks. The flagship vintages: Héritage 1749 is an AOC Martinique amber rum aged for 12 to 18 months in oak barrels, then refined in Port barrels to bring notes of candied fruit and a delicious roundness. The 62° white rum reveals the pure fresh cane juice with power and liveliness, ideal for mixology. La Mauny XO, meanwhile, is a blend of more than ten rums aged over six years, reflecting the cellar master's mastery of aging and balance. La Mauny embodies both a traditional and technical approach to agricultural rum: terroir, rigorous fermentation, diversity of distillation tools and demanding barrel selection combine to offer a range where each expression tells a facet of Martinique.
