CENTENARIO RUM: THE EXCELLENCE OF COSTA RICA RUM
Centenario , an iconic rum brand from Costa Rica, was founded in 1985 by Gabriel Diez. It was born in a country with deep-rooted distilling traditions and is one of the few brands to export beyond the borders of Central America. Centenario rum is selected from one of the oldest distilleries in Central America, La Fabrica Nacional de Licores, which has existed since 1850. Centenario is distinguished by its strict specifications, allowing the distillery to produce rums of great finesse and perfectly suited to the brand's expectations. Distillation is carried out using molasses from Criolla and Castilla canes, grown on plantations in the Grecia region, and follows traditional distillation methods using column and pot stills. Centenario rum, overseen by Susana Masis, the master blender for nearly 30 years, is aged in whiskey and bourbon barrels using the Solera method. This technique allows for perfect harmony between young and old rums, resulting in exceptional smoothness. Centenario rum, with an estimated sweetness of 40 grams per liter, seduces with its roundness and smoothness on the palate. With its cellars located at an altitude of 1,200 meters in San José, the distillery benefits from a temperate tropical climate, which gives Centenario rum a richness of flavors and a unique character.
