Severin Rum: Guadeloupean Heritage and Renaissance

Founded in 1928 by Henri Marsolle on the family estate, the Severin distillery quickly established itself as a major player in Guadeloupe, the historic home of agricultural rum in France. Located in Basse-Terre, it has successfully leveraged local sugar cane to produce a very fresh white agricultural rum, an aged rum full of character, and a handcrafted punch popular at traditional festivals and ceremonies. Until 2019, all production and aging took place in the north of Basse-Terre, in carefully selected barrels. The distillery combined ancient expertise and volcanic terroir to offer elegant blends with subtle spices and woody notes, reflecting a unique tropical climate. Faced with financial difficulties in 2014, the Severin house sold 65% of its shares to local investor José Pirbakas, who spearheaded an ambitious redeployment project. In 2019, the distillery was relocated and modernized, while preserving Severin's original DNA: impeccable quality, an authentic Guadeloupean identity, and a deep attachment to the terroir. Today, Rhum Severin is reborn with a renewed range, combining tradition and innovation. Whether it's the lively and herbaceous white, the aged with aromas of vanilla and spices, or the generous punch, each bottle tells the story of a revisited heritage, ready to seduce even the most discerning tropical rum lovers.
