Champagne Mailly Grand Cru: chalk terroir and excellence in the Reims mountains

Located in the heart of the prestigious Grands Crus of Ludes, Verzenay, and Verzy, Maison Mailly Grand Cru boasts 70 hectares of vines exclusively dedicated to this exceptional terroir. Composed of 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay, this hillside plantation on chalky soils benefits from optimal sunshine, allowing for precise ripening and a fine expression of the grapes. Mailly's identity also rests on its cellars—seven floors dug by hand between 1929 and 1965, across nearly a kilometer of chalk pits. These chalk galleries provide ideal aging conditions, with constant freshness and controlled depth, allowing the cuvées to flourish with elegance and length. Among the emblematic expressions, the Blanc de Pinot Noir Grand Cru cuvée explodes with vivacity and indulgence, perfect for launching a celebration or enhancing a meal. La Blanche, a blend of equal parts Chardonnay from the estate and Côte des Blancs Grand Cru, is distinguished by its roundness, minerality, and delicate fruitiness. Les Echansons 2012 embodies the pinnacle of the house: aromatic richness, generous smoothness, and refined balance, reflecting the great years of the terroir. Mailly Grand Cru draws its reputation from the quality of its grape varieties: Pinot Noir brings structure, depth, and elegance, Chardonnay offers finesse, freshness, and minerality, while Pinot Meunier completes the blends with its roundness and supple fruitiness. Together, they create harmonious champagnes, both powerful and refined, faithful to the chalky soul of the Montagne de Reims.
