GlenDronach Whisky: The Grand Master of Sherry Cask Aging

Founded in 1826 at Dronach Burn , on the eastern edge of Speyside, GlenDronach Distillery is one of the oldest distilleries still in operation in Scotland. It was James Allardice, a bold entrepreneur, who founded the distillery with the support of the fifth Duke of Gordon, a pioneer in the legalization of distilling in the early 19th century. GlenDronach has always distinguished itself by its commitment to traditional production methods . For nearly two centuries, its single malts have been carefully distilled and then aged exclusively in premium sherry casks from Andalusia. This powerful and fruity aromatic signature has become the emblem of the house. GlenDronach's history is marked by numerous changes of ownership and by its closure in 1996. Purchased in 2008 by the owners of Benriach, the distillery has successfully revived, while retaining its unique identity. Its rich, opulent and slightly spicy style makes it a must-have for lovers of whiskies aged in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. Although renowned for its unpeated versions, GlenDronach has recently explored small-batch peated production, offering a new facet to its aromatic profile. With iconic vintages such as the 12 Year Old, the 15 Year Old Revival and the 18 Year Old Allardice, GlenDronach brilliantly embodies the elegance of the deepest and most refined sherry cask whiskies .
