Kilkerran: The triumphant return of the Glengyle distillery

Kilkerran is the name of the single malt produced by the Glengyle distillery, located in Campbeltown , a historic region of Scotch whisky. Founded in 1872 by William Mitchell, the distillery ceased operations in 1925, hit hard by the Great Whisky Depression. It was reborn in 2004 thanks to Hedley Wright, a direct descendant of the founder of Springbank, who decided to restore Glengyle to preserve the regional identity of Campbeltown. This move was motivated by a strong desire: to prevent the disappearance of this region from the Scotch Whisky appellation, threatened by the Scotch Whisky Association. Kilkerran whiskies are produced in an artisanal way, with great attention paid to each stage. All operations are carried out by the Springbank distillery team, respecting traditional methods. Production remains confidential, with fewer than 100,000 bottles per year, which gives Kilkerran expressions a sought-after and rare character. Between salty freshness, ripe fruits and notes of light peat, Kilkerran perfectly embodies the spirit of Campbeltown: authentic, unique and rich in history.
