Bottled at cask strength, this limited edition (batch 11) is a pure reflection of the Campbeltown style: lightly peaty, saline, complex, and rich in aromas. Matured entirely in bourbon casks, this whisky reveals all the subtlety of Scottish malted barley combined with the power of maturation. A fine illustration of the revival of the Glengyle distillery, relaunched in 2004 to perpetuate the region's heritage and prevent its disappearance from the Scottish whisky menu.

About the distillery

Glengyle Distillery, producer of Kilkerran whisky, is located in Campbeltown , a historic Scotch whisky region. Founded in 1872 by William Mitchell, it was forced to close in 1925 following the whisky crisis. It remained silent until 2000, when Hedley Wright , owner of Springbank and descendant of the founder, undertook its revival. The project aimed in particular to preserve Campbeltown's status as a whisky region in its own right, requiring at least three working distilleries. The distillery was rebuilt with modern equipment, while maintaining artisanal methods. It is now managed by the Springbank team, in a spirit of transmission and respect for the terroir. Production remains deliberately limited (less than 100,000 bottles per year), with bottlings often non-chill filtered and without coloring, bottled at high proof. Kilkerran, the Gaelic name for the original site of Campbeltown, offers whiskies of great finesse, combining tradition, minerality, and maritime character. With its unique profile and local roots, Kilkerran embodies the revival of a forgotten style, now prized by connoisseurs worldwide.
