Founded in 1881, Bunnahabhain Distillery is a true gem on the Scottish island of Islay. Its architecture is reminiscent of a Bordeaux château and was designed from the outset to produce high-yield malt whisky. However, despite its production efficiency, Bunnahabhain remains a bastion of tradition and craftsmanship, ensuring that every bottle embodies both the distillery's passion and heritage. The distillery's strategic location at Port Askaig on the Islay coast was carefully chosen for its proximity to the sea. This choice allowed the distillery's founders to facilitate the sourcing of raw materials and easily export the whisky to European markets.
