Glen Moray: A Speyside Single Malt between Tradition and Innovation
Located in Elgin, on the banks of the River Lossie, Glen Moray has occupied the former site of the West Brewery since 1897. This iconic distillery in Scottish Speyside has survived the ages despite closures in the early 20th century. It was reborn thanks to its integration into the Glenmorangie group in 1923, then experienced a new boom from the 1950s onwards. One of Glen Moray's great strengths lies in its ability to innovate, notably with the use of white wine casks such as Chardonnay from 1999, a first at the time. Now owned by the Glen Turner Company, a subsidiary of La Martiniquaise, Glen Moray also participates in the production of whiskies such as Label 5 and Glen Turner . With six stills and an annual capacity of more than 3 million liters of pure alcohol, Glen Moray combines volume with demanding quality. Its range has expanded considerably in recent years with editions in Port casks , peated expressions , and even a 25-year-old version with a long finish in Port casks. Glen Moray seduces with its spicy aromas , its soft and rounded profile , as well as the richness of its woody finishes. Accessible but always elegant, it stands out as an essential Speyside single malt , both for amateurs and connoisseurs looking for an expressive and balanced whisky.
