Founded in 1930 in Petit-Bourg, the Carrère distillery – now known as Montebello – is an iconic family business in Guadeloupe. Taken over in 1968 by Jean and Alain Marsolle, it experienced remarkable growth thanks to a complete modernization in 1975. Montebello has become the third largest producer of agricultural rum on the island. Since 2012, Grégory Marsolle has perpetuated the family legacy by combining tradition and innovation . The distillery practices natural fermentation for 24 to 72 hours and distillation in a Creole copper column, revealing intense and expressive rums. It is distinguished by the responsible use of bagasse and aging in metal containers, a rare technique favoring a rapid evolution of aromas.
