LOUIS ROEDERER Rosé 2017 is a vintage rosé champagne characterized by its depth and fruitiness. This champagne reveals all the lusciousness and nuances of a demanding vintage. The year 2017 was distinguished by a particularly warm winter and spring, supported by a gloomy, wet, and cool summer. The end of August was marked by humid and warm conditions, requiring a quick harvest and careful grape selection. To create its rosé champagnes, Louis Roederer uses a technique unique to Champagne: infusion. This method involves incorporating Chardonnay juices into a maceration of Pinot Noirs so that they ferment together and integrate perfectly. This allows the ripe, full-bodied side of the Pinots to be combined with the freshness of the Chardonnays. The 2017 Rosé combines 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, with a blend vinified at 29% in the woods. This cuvée displays a salmon color with brilliant red highlights, supported by a fine and delicate effervescence. On the nose, the bouquet reveals notes of wild fruits, such as strawberries and wild raspberries, as well as citrus fruits, notably blood orange. On the second nose, iodine and chocolate nuances stand out, accompanied by a spicy hint. The attack on the palate is silky and delicate, then the champagne reveals itself very expressive. The fruity side is concentrated, powerful and dynamic. On the finish, the very gourmand chocolate nuances mingle with a chalky freshness, offering a long, saline and pure impression.
“A Rosé of superb energy, always combining great aromatic finesse with a unique strength of character, between saline freshness and fullness of flesh.”— Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon, Cellar Master

THE BRAND
Established in 1776 by Mr. Dubois and his son, the house flourished under the leadership of Louis Roederer, who ran the business from 1832 to 1870, propelling it to the ranks of the greatest Champagne houses. This prestigious reputation as supplier to the Tsar was maintained with remarkable consistency. Rather than purchasing grapes, Louis Roederer preferred to invest in acquiring vineyards, meticulously selecting the best plots. In 1876, his son created the first "prestigious cuvée" of Champagne for Tsar Alexander II, which he named Cristal. This tradition continued with Léon Olry Roederer, then with his wife Camille from 1933, and finally with his grandson Jean-Claude Rouzaud, who undertook an overhaul of the vineyard. Since 2006, the Rouzaud family, represented by Frédéric, the seventh generation of the lineage, has been at the helm of Roederer champagnes. Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon, who has held the positions of deputy general manager and cellar master since 1999, contributes to maintaining the house's excellence. The vineyard has been cultivated according to biodynamic principles for over twenty years, with half already certified organic and biodynamic, while the rest benefits from the HVE-3 label.
