Michter's US*1 Sour Mash is one of the Louisville distillery's signature whiskeys, celebrated for its traditional "sour mash" fermentation process. This method, made famous by James C. Crow, involves incorporating a portion of the previous mash into a new batch to harmonize the flavors. Aged in new, heavily charred American oak barrels, this whiskey reveals an exceptional aromatic richness. About the distillery

Michter's Distillery is today one of the jewels of American whiskey, located in Louisville, in the heart of Kentucky. Its origins date back to the late 1700s, when farmer John Shenk founded one of America's first distilleries. The whiskey it produced became so popular that it was supplied to George Washington's troops during the Revolutionary War.

Despite the turbulence of Prohibition and a closure in the 20th century, Michter's was reborn in the 1990s thanks to two enthusiasts who relaunched the brand with the ambition of achieving excellence. Today, the distillery combines artisanal methods , small batches and rigorous barrel selection to offer a range of rare finesse. Each batch is produced according to very strict standards, including gentle filtration, slow reduction and the use of custom-toasted barrels.
