THE BRAND
Domaine Y. Lancelot Wanner, founded in the 1970s by the parents of its owner, Philippe Lancelot, is a vineyard spread across the communes of Cramant, Avize, Chouilly, Oiry, Épernay and Ay. Since 2012, the conversion to biodynamic practices has been underway across all plots, with AB Ecocert certification obtained in 2014, followed by Demeter in 2015 and Biodyvin in 2020. Philippe Lancelot strives to bring out the unique DNA of each vintage by creating distinct cuvées, each reflecting its own identity. The key words in his work are purity, singularity and originality. Among the estate's most emblematic cuvées is the Cuvée Cramant 2019, a 100% Chardonnay from all the plots of Cramant's Grand Cru terroir, with the exception of the "Les longues verges" plot. The vines, planted between 1951 and 1989, have an average age of 40 to 45 years, producing a champagne that is both powerful and balanced. Another notable cuvée is Les Hauts d'Épernay 2019, composed of 40% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir, and 20% Meunier, from the hillsides of Épernay, with plots such as "Boissimon," planted in 1990, and "Saint Antoine," planted in 1973. This cuvée is distinguished by its fruity and subtly tangy aromas. Since the 2009 harvest, Philippe Lancelot has collaborated closely with Hervé Jestin, with the aim of achieving optimal grape maturity. Together, they have favored vinification with little or no sulfur since the 2015 vintage. The chosen production methods bring light and verticality to the wines, thus diffusing joy, fulfillment, and brilliance. The estate's wines, naturally balanced from the moment they are placed in the cellar, require little or no dosage, reflecting authentic purity and finesse.
