Champagne Philippe Lancelot: biodynamics, purity and expression of great vintages
Domaine Philippe Lancelot, born from Domaine Y. Lancelot Wanner, has embodied a resolutely biodynamic approach since 2012, with AB, Demeter, and Biodyvin certifications. Spread across Cramant, Avize, Chouilly, Oiry, Épernay, and Aÿ, it seeks to reveal the soul of each vintage by crafting distinct cuvées, where purity, singularity, and balance are at the heart of the expression. Among the estate's signatures, the Cuvée Cramant 2019, 100% Chardonnay from the Grand Cru of Cramant, stands out for its controlled power and verticality, driven by vines aged 40 to 45 years. Les Hauts d'Épernay 2019, a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Meunier, offers a fruity and tangy palette from carefully selected hillsides such as Boissimon and Saint Antoine. Since 2009, the collaboration with Hervé Jestin has allowed the grapes to mature more precisely and a minimalist winemaking process to be adopted: little or no sulfur since 2015. This method produces champagnes that are naturally balanced from the moment they are placed in the cellar, requiring little or no dosage, reflecting a rare light and authenticity in each bottle. Philippe Lancelot does not seek mechanical permanence, but the faithful expression of his terroirs through respectful viticulture and vinification that lets nature speak. His vintages reveal a transparent elegance, where precision and finesse unite to offer a sensory experience that is both luminous and profound.
