Isle of Raasay Whisky: Awakening a Wild Scottish Terroir

Located off the west coast of Scotland, between Skye and the mainland, the Isle of Raasay distillery embodies the revival of artisanal Scotch whisky. Founded in 2017 in the Inner Hebrides , it was the very first to have legally distilled on the island, despite a tradition of illicit distillation having been rooted there for centuries. After the launch of its gin, the distillery unveiled its very first single malt Scotch whisky in 2021. This lightly peated whisky is distinguished by great finesse, combining sweetness, minerality and subtle smokiness. It perfectly reflects the harsh climate, the sea air and the island identity of Raasay. One of the team's strong ambitions is to produce a 100% island whisky, made from barley grown directly on the island. This terroir project gives an even deeper anchor to their artisanal philosophy, based on local innovation and respect for natural resources.
