Glenkinchie Whisky: The Elegance of the Lowlands in Single Malt

Founded in 1820 , the Glenkinchie distillery is one of the last bastions of whisky tradition in the Scottish Lowlands . Located around thirty kilometers from Edinburgh, it is now part of the prestigious Diageo group portfolio. Led by Kay Fleming , Glenkinchie perpetuates a floral and light style, typical of its region. The distillery is particularly known for supplying base whiskies used in the composition of famous blends such as Johnnie Walker , but it also produces a range of single malts under its own name. Its Glenkinchie 10 Year Old joined the Classic Malts range in 1988, strengthening its reputation among the general public. Glenkinchie has an impressive production capacity of around 2.5 million liters of pure spirit per year . It is equipped with a gigantic wash still of more than 30,000 liters, one of the largest in Scotland. Its replacement in the 2000s even required the distillery's roof to be temporarily raised. Thanks to its light, floral, and delicate profile, Glenkinchie appeals to lovers of accessible and elegant whiskies. Today, it proudly represents the Lowlands style, in a region where distilleries are becoming increasingly rare. A single malt to (re)discover for its finesse and typical smoothness.
