CHAIRMAN'S RUM: THE STORY OF AN EXCEPTIONAL RUM FROM SAINT LUCIA
The island of Saint Lucia, marked by a history of conflict between Europeans over the centuries, has become a center of rum production. Rum production on this island has intensified over the years, influenced by sugarcane cultivation and the expertise of local distilleries. The distillery that produces Chairman's Rum was born from a merger in the 1950s, bringing together historic distilleries such as Barnard and Geest. These distilleries played a fundamental role in rum production, particularly by combining molasses and pure cane juice, creating highly complex spirits. In the early 1970s, the Barnard distillery moved its stills to the Geest site in the Roseau Valley. The Barnard family acquired Geest's share of the company in 1992, before selling part of the business to the Angostura Group in 1997. This is when Chairman's was born, with a unique identity forged by traditional production methods.
