Santa Teresa Rum: Venezuelan Heritage and Excellence
Santa Teresa has its roots in a Venezuelan hacienda founded in 1796, when Count Travor y Blanco received these lands from the King of Spain. A few decades later, Gustav Julius Vollmer, a young merchant of German descent, transformed the operation into a distillery, laying the foundation for the family legacy that Alberto Vollmer Herrera continues today. The secret of Santa Teresa lies in its double aging. First aged in bourbon barrels, the rum is then transferred to a traditional solera in the Aragua Valley. This unique method blends rums of different ages, some as old as 35 years, to offer a perfect balance of roundness, sweet spices, and aromatic depth. Upon tasting, expect a rich nose combining vanilla, caramel, and dried fruits. On the palate, the silky texture delivers notes of honey, toasted oak, and prune, before a long, warm finish, punctuated by a subtle hint of coffee and spice. Santa Teresa can be enjoyed neat or over ice, revealing all its complexity. Ideal for lovers of great rums, it symbolizes the alliance of centuries-old expertise and a family passion for excellence.
