Naguelann Ruz ("red" in Breton) is a French whisky aged entirely in first-, second-, and third-fill Saint-Emilion Grand Cru barrels. A blend that showcases Château Malineau, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru. Naguelann Ruz offers notes of red fruits, caramel, and delicate woody notes.
THE BRAND
Naguelann is a Breton whisky made by Lénaïck Lemaître, a former bartender in prestigious establishments. Naguelann is located in the Côtes d'Armor region, in Languenan, of which it is an anagram, near Dinan. It is a place for blending, maturing, and refining young eaux-de-vie purchased from neighboring distilleries, including the Grand'Pa and Mesk cuvées, which bear its signature. Naguelann has two German double-pass, open-flame stills. One, a 1000l still, serves as a wash still with a 40° distillate; the second, a 500l still, serves as a spirit still with a 76° core temperature. The distillery uses new barrels, ex-cider casks, of Saint-Emilion, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon, Sherry, or Bourbon. Double or triple finishing is one of its signatures. Bottling is done without cold filtration or additions.
