Powers Three Swallow is a pot still Irish whiskey from Powers, made from a blend of malted and unmalted barley, and triple distilled in traditional copper pot stills. TASTING NOTE
Nose : Pot still spices combine with the crisp character of barley. Delicate herbs give way to green banana and grapefruit, while a nutty marzipan note reflects the contribution of the wood from specially selected barrels.
Palate : In true Pot Still style, an initial taste offers a smooth barley flavor followed by an eruption of green apple and citrus notes. The herbs and spice are complemented by a touch of cedar wood for added complexity.
Finish : The spicy sweetness gives way to the Pot Still barley character balanced with a hint of sherry and leading to a crisp, cereal finish with notes of toasted oak.
THE BRAND
In 1791, John Power founded the Powers Distillery on John's Lane, which at the time was located on the outskirts of Dublin. John Power was the first Irish distiller to bottle his own whiskey, adopting a Gold Label. The "Gold Label" ensures high quality whiskey and worldwide renown for the distillery. No other whiskey tastes like Powers whiskey because it is unique. A blend of pot still and grain whiskey distilled three times and then carefully matured to finally become pot still whiskey , this unique distillation process offers a complex and rich taste. Since 1975, Powers has been produced at the famous Midleton Distillery, one of the most modern in the world in Cork. The old distillery has been converted into a museum and is now a must-visit in the region.
