TASTING NOTE
Color : Old gold with salmon highlights.
Nose : Sweet notes of vanilla up front, accompanied by sweet red fruits (cherry and raspberry).
Mouth : Orange and chocolate oil, fresh barley and toasted oak.
Final : Fresh plum and white grape. Cereal and chocolate cookies.
THE BRAND
The Mars Shinshu Distillery is located at an altitude of 800 meters on the island of Honshu in Japan. The Mars Distillery was founded by the renowned Kiichiro Iwai. Its water comes from the Kiso Mountains and passes through thick layers of granite, which purify it before its arrival. The whisky is distilled only during harsh winters and is marketed under the name Komagatake. In 2015, Mars decided to develop a second distillation site, at its historic base in Kagoshima, under the name Tsunuki. The unique climate, around 30°C in summer and -2°C in winter, should have a very different effect on Shinshu whisky.
