The Matsui The Peated is a lightly peated Japanese single malt distilled by the Kurayoshi Distillery in Tottori Prefecture. Master distiller Matsui Shuzo carefully selected the peated malted barley. This double-distilled Japanese whisky is aged in American oak barrels and then reduced with natural spring water from Mount Daisen. It offers fruity notes with a smoky finish. The illustration on the bottle depicts Katsushika Hokusai's "The Great Wave off Kanagawa."

TASTING NOTE 
Nose : Freshly cut malted cereals, slightly candied peat, lively and balanced.
Palate : Freshness, vegetal peat. Notes of toasted oak, brown sugar, creamy vanilla, all enveloped by a minty, even licorice-like smoke.
Finish : Peat smoke and lingering notes of fresh apple.
THE BRAND
MATSUI whiskies are produced by Matsui Shuzo at the Kurayoshi Distillery. The distillery is located in Tottori Prefecture, in the southern part of Honshu Island, known for its sand dunes. The distillery's geographical location allows it to benefit from the pure groundwater of the Daisen Mountains. In addition to "The Kurayoshi Pure Malt" and "The Tottori Blended" ranges, a three-product line has just been launched: "The Matsui Single Malt," with a tribute to Japanese culture and its "Ukiyo-e" drawing art form. Each label in the range has been carefully designed. Katsushika Hokusai, with his series of prints "36 Views of Mount Fuji", was chosen to illustrate the strength of the Single Malt "The Matsui The Peated". His vision of "Umezawa in Sagami Province" was chosen to represent the freshness of the Single Malt "The Matsui Mizunara cask". Finally, it is the artist Kikukawa Eizan and one of his many portraits of a woman walking in a Sakura field that was chosen to represent the delicate Single Malt 'The Matsui Sakura cask' with the print "Beauty in the Cherry Blossom Garden".
