Hatozaki Whisky: Centuries-Old Tradition and Japanese Revival

The Hatozaki range of whiskies is produced by the Kaikyo distillery , located in the port city of Akashi in Japan. It was born from the desire of the Yonezawa family , sake brewers since 1856 and distillers since 1917, to revive their heritage with a contemporary and artisanal approach. To mark 100 years of spirits production, the House has invested in two new Forsyth’s stills, a world reference in distillation. This renewal marks the creation of the Kaikyo distillery , named in homage to the famous Akashi-Kaikyo bridge which overlooks the entrance to the neighboring strait and watches over the distillery. The Hatozaki range today includes two main expressions: a Blended whisky , smooth, round and accessible, and a more complex Pure Malt , highlighting the selected casks and mastery of aging. Both are produced in the Maison's cellars , with a constant focus on purity and balance. Hatozaki embodies Japanese expertise applied to whisky , combining family tradition and technical innovation. Its name refers to one of Japan's oldest stone lighthouses, a symbol of guidance and authenticity. A young distillery with great potential, one to watch very closely.
