Glengoyne Whisky

Located at the foot of Dumgoyne Hill, near Loch Lomond , the Glengoyne distillery was founded in 1833 by George Connell, a local farmer who obtained one of the first legal distillation licenses. Founded as Burnfoot , it became Glenguin in 1861, and then took the final name of Glengoyne in 1906. Glengoyne is distinguished by the slowest distillation rate in Scotland . This process promotes the formation of aromatic esters, giving the whisky a sweet, fruity and smooth taste , a true signature of the house. Unlike many distilleries, Glengoyne does not use any peat, ensuring a pure and elegant profile. The whisky is aged in Spanish oak casks that have previously contained Oloroso Sherry . The wood is naturally dried under the northern Spanish sun for two years before being blended into casks, then filled with sherry for another two years, ensuring rich aromas and slow, controlled maturation. Since its acquisition in 2003 by the Ian Macleod Group, Glengoyne has enjoyed a new lease of life. A range of elegant and consistent single malts has emerged, while respecting the artisanal methods that have made the distillery famous for nearly two centuries. Glengoyne is today an essential reference for lovers of subtle and refined whiskies.
