Rhum Habitation La Salle: Authentic Immersion in the History of Martinique Agricultural Rum

Nestled in Sainte-Marie, in the northeast of Martinique, Habitation La Salle is a former sugar refinery founded at the end of the 17th century. This heritage site, once dedicated to the production of tafia, the ancestor of rum, has been completely restored to preserve its soul and traditional know-how. Accessible via the picturesque Petit Train des Plantations from the Saint James Distillery, La Salle takes you on a sensory journey. You will discover the wooden mills that once crushed the sugar cane and the guildiverie where the first stills revealed the aromas of the sugar cane juice. The Atelier du Rhum is the highlight of the visit. In this tasting and sales area, you will taste the La Salle Cuvées, hand-bottled, sealed with wax, and personalized with pyrography for a unique and memorable experience. Between historical heritage and passion for the land, Habitation La Salle offers an authentic immersion in the heart of Martinique's agricultural rum, ideal for lovers of history and exceptional spirits.
