Champagne Larmandier-Bernier: biodynamic elegance and minerality of the Côte des Blancs
The history of Champagne Larmandier-Bernier is one of family inheritance and conscious reinvention. Pierre Larmandier, along with his wife Sophie, set out to reconnect the estate to its roots by adopting biodynamics, favoring indigenous yeasts, and reinstating oak aging. Refusing to purchase grapes, the house invested in its own plots, prioritizing quality over quantity and evolving its methods to reveal the full personality of its terroirs. Located in the grands crus of the Côte des Blancs, the 18-hectare vineyard lies on the chalk of the Campanian, the foundation of the house's mineral signature. Cultivation practices are mastered: plowing, limited intervention, harvesting at peak maturity, then extended aging of three to eight years in the cellar, with increasing use of barrels and tuns to allow the champagnes to blossom with depth and complexity. Larmandier-Bernier's style is characterized by a strong minerality, persistent freshness, and elegant length on the palate. Each of their cuvées reflects a carefully cultivated terroir: "Vieille Vigne de Cramant" embodies the most accomplished expression of elegance, while "Terre de Vertus" reveals finesse and vibrancy. Each bottle testifies to a deep commitment to excellence and authenticity. With its new cellar and clear vision, Champagne Larmandier-Bernier continues to write its story, combining heritage and modernity to offer champagnes of remarkable purity, designed for discerning connoisseurs in search of character and truth.
