Old Pulteney: the salty and wild single malt from the North of Scotland

Located among the most northerly distilleries in Scotland , Old Pulteney Distillery enjoys a stunning seaside location in the fishing village of Wick . Founded in 1826 by James Henderson, it is renowned for its salty, wild single malts , reflecting its unique maritime terroir. After a history marked by several changes of ownership and a closure of almost 30 years between 1930 and 1959, the distillery is now owned by Inver House , itself part of the Thai Beverage group. The latter also owns other renowned brands such as Balblair, Balmenach, Knockdhu and Speyburn. Old Pulteney operates with just two traditional stills, producing around one million litres of pure spirit per year . Its whiskies are primarily aged in bourbon barrels , stored in warehouses that can hold nearly 30,000 barrels, ensuring optimal aging to deliver richness and complexity to each expression.
