About the distillery
Blanton’s is produced by Buffalo Trace Distillery , one of the oldest operating distilleries in the United States, established in Kentucky in 1773. It owes its name to the bison that once roamed the land where it was built. Under the leadership of Colonel Albert B. Blanton (1912-1953), the distillery gained worldwide renown for its high standards of quality. During Prohibition, Buffalo Trace was one of the few distilleries authorized to produce whiskey for medicinal use, which ensured its survival. Today, Buffalo Trace is considered the most decorated distillery in the world, with over 1,000 international awards . It has also been designated a National Historic Landmark since 2013. Combining tradition and innovation, it continues to produce some of the most sought-after bourbons on the planet: Eagle Rare, Blanton's, Pappy Van Winkle, and many others.
