Torabhaig Sound Of Sleat 46% is the fourth chapter in the Legacy Series , a collection that illustrates the evolution of the house style defined as "Smoke with Taste". Distilled on the Isle of Skye , this peated single malt seduces with its balance between smoky intensity and maritime freshness. Made from Concerto and Laureate barley malted to over 78 PPM , and fermented for 72 hours with Pinnacle MG yeasts, this whisky draws its richness from aging exclusively in American oak casks (Quercus Alba) . The selected casks include heavily toasted first Bourbon casks , 4-6 year old Bourbon casks and casks over 10 years old from the distillery's own cellars. Non-chill filtered and without the addition of coloring, it retains all its authenticity. On the nose, it displays delicate aromas of orange, apricot and popcorn, supported by a touch of blond tobacco and an elegant maritime smoke. The palate combines the roundness of honey and vanilla with a typical Torabhaig wood fire smoke , enhanced with sea salt, seaweed and spices. The finish, long and refined, evokes storms and sunsets on the Sound of Sleat , this wild inlet of sea that separates Skye from the Scottish mainland. About the distillery
Torabhaig Distillery , founded in 2017 on the Isle of Skye, is the second distillery to establish itself on this mythical land after Talisker. Housed in a carefully restored 18th-century farmhouse, it embodies a unique balance between respect for Scottish tradition and the search for innovation. Its name comes from Scottish Gaelic and means "the field of towers," recalling the medieval history of the region. From its inception, Torabhaig has chosen to assert a resolutely peaty style, which it defines by the philosophy "Smoke with Taste." Each stage of production is designed to combine smoky power and aromatic finesse: rigorous selection of barley varieties, long fermentation (72 hours), distillation in custom-designed copper stills, and meticulous aging in a wide range of barrels, mainly American oak.
