Rhum Héritiers Madkaud: family saga and exceptional agricultural rums from Martinique
The story of Héritiers Madkaud rum begins in 1895 in Carbet, on the northern Caribbean coast of Martinique, and spans five generations of a family descended from the emancipation of the French. From Félicien Madkaud to Stéphane Madkaud, the lineage has passionately and determinedly produced a pure cane juice agricultural rum, which has benefited from the Martinique appellation of origin since 1996. In 2007, the brand definitively took shape under the name "Héritiers Madkaud" with the cooperation of oenologist Marc Sassier to refine and tell this exceptional family story. The Héritiers Madkaud range offers expressions with distinct profiles, combining smoothness, aromatic richness, and agricultural authenticity. Each rum embodies a facet of the Martinican terroir and ancestral know-how: from the lively white to the balanced power of old oak barrel aging. Héritiers Madkaud XO Cuvée Fondamentale 43% : an aged agricultural rum aged for 8 years in oak barrels, blending fruit, wood, spices and roasting in a mature balance. Héritiers Madkaud Castelmore 50% : a round white rum with notes of fresh cane, ideal for Ti Punch, which pays homage to the history of the Habitation Fond Capot. Héritiers Madkaud VSOP Castelmore 40% : an aged agricultural rum aged for 4 to 5 years in small barrels, offering tones of mocha, roasted coffee and a delicate vegetal freshness. Héritiers Madkaud Vieux Renaissance 40% : a smooth aged rum aged 3 to 4 years, with accents of mocha, spices and roasted coffee. Héritiers Madkaud Renaissance 40% : a white rum dominated by the freshness of cane, with a vegetal roundness and a subtle zest, perfect for an authentic Ti Punch. Héritiers Madkaud is today a symbolic brand of Martinique, where history, transmission and rigorous selection combine to produce agricultural rums of character, respectful of the past and carrying contemporary elegance.
