Rhum Dillon: A Rich and Authentic Heritage from Martinique

The Dillon Distillery, founded in 1779 in Martinique, is one of the oldest and most renowned on the island. Its history dates back to 1690, on the site of an old sugar factory, and is rooted in a legendary love story between Arthur Dillon, a French soldier who fought in the American Revolutionary War, and Marie-Laure Girardin, a Creole widow. Today, the distillery is run by Pascal Barat and continues to produce exceptional rum. The Dillon Distillery is now spread across three locations in Martinique: in Fort-de-France where the winery and bottling station are located, in Basse-Pointe, and in Saint-Pierre, near the majestic slope of Mount Pelée. Although the old Dillon distillery has been relocated, the rum is now distilled at the Depaz distillery, which belongs to the Dillon brand. This rum benefits from the Martinique Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC), thus guaranteeing impeccable quality, faithful to traditions and the local terroir. Since its creation, Dillon has been synonymous with quality and authenticity. The rum produced here reflects Martinique's know-how and embodies the heritage of several generations, combining ancestral traditions and innovation to offer exceptional products. Today, it is one of the most sought-after rums, particularly in mainland France, and continues to mark the history of Martinique rum.
