Longueteau Rum: Guadeloupean heritage and exceptional agricultural rum
The Marquisat de Sainte-Marie estate has been home to the Longueteau distillery since 1895, founded by Louis Philippe Henry Longueteau. It is the oldest distillery still operating in Guadeloupe, passed down from generation to generation and remaining faithful to its agricultural roots. 100% self-sufficient in sugar cane, Longueteau cultivates its own plots in monoculture spread over 12 terroirs, using mainly blue and red cane varieties, with sustainable soil management through the use of vinasse and bagasse cover. The rum production is based on a long 48-hour fermentation to extract all the aromatic richness of the vesou, followed by controlled distillation in a 28-plate Savalle column, with an output between 70 and 80%. This process gives Longueteau rum a balanced tension, a depth of character and a typicity marked by its agricultural origin. Longueteau is renowned for its commitment to quality and precision: each plot is harvested at the optimum point of maturity, monitoring the brix, ensuring a faithful expression of the cane. The distillery is an example of sustainable and authentic craftsmanship, where the balance between family tradition and technical rigor produces exceptional white, amber, and aged rums. Tasting Longueteau is like traveling through more than a century of Guadeloupean history. Whether neat, in a cocktail, or as a tasting, each sip reveals the personality of its terroir, the mastery of its production, and the passion of a house that promotes the island's agricultural rum throughout the world.
